The Maglite XL200 has been updates and now delivers 230 lumens of white light on the highest setting, with a beam range of up to 163 metres.
The tactical tail switch allows the user to cycle through the five functions of variable brightness, variable strobe, Nite Lite™ mode, signal mode and SOS mode. You can turn the torch off from any mode with a single click.
A single click will enter the motion controlled variable brightness mode. To adjust brightness, press and hold the button from off and then move your arm sideways from vertical to horizontal, once you reach the desired output release the button. The chosen output will be remembered until you change it or remove the tail cap for a couple of moments.
The variable strobe is accessed with two quick clicks from off and can be adjusted in the same way by holding the button down on the second click. Nite Lite™ is activated with three quick clicks from off and will come on at the saved brightness level. It then dims after around 5 seconds to provide low level lighting while sleeping, but if moved it will go back up to the saved brightness level so you can find your way in the dark.
Four quick clicks from off enters signal mode, which allows you to turn the light on and off to silently signal by moving your arm in the same motion mentioned previously. The fifth mode is SOS which is turned on with five quick clicks from off and will continuously cycle through the the SOS distress signal.
Using three AAA alkaline batteries the XL200 has a run-time of 1 hours 45 minutes on the highest setting.
